MRI availability:

 

We are pleased to offer high quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging to our clients.   MRI is considered to be the gold standard for evaluation of the brain and spinal cord.   This state-of-the-art diagnostic tool provides the doctor with excellent detail of tissues and structures of the nervous system not available by x-ray or other imaging modalities.   This procedure is a noninvasive, painless window into the bodies of our patients.   We can detect a wide variety of problems such as brain and spinal cord tumors, vascular events, herniated discs, inflammatory diseases, nerve-root tumors, structural abnormalities and much more.   Focused scanning is undertaken only after detailed consultation and physical examination to ensure completeness, efficiency and maintain cost effectiveness.

MRI imaging requires complete stillness and all scanning takes place on anesthetized pets for this reason.   The MRI team provides the most up-to-date monitoring to ensure safe anesthesia delivery.   They consistently meet the needs of our neurology patients which are often the most ill patients in the hospital.

All MRI films are reviewed by Dr. Harrington in consultation with a board-certified radiologist either locally or via electronic transmission with Dr Patrick Gavin at MR Vets, Inc.
